i was annoyed at first because for the past nine months you had everyones attention and then all of a sudden no one wants to know you cos you have a gorgeous baby, sounds selfish but many people feel like this, its all of your hormones running wild and once they calm down so do you!

It depends. When I needed a break I was more then happy to let someone hold him but if I was enjoying holding him and someone (like family member) just tried to take him then I got annoyed.

It depended on the person/situation.... If it was my family or close friends, I was usually happy for the short break. But there were people at church that insisted on holding her and some of them didn't look, well... very clean. I wasn't afraid to say "no, not right now, she's fussy" or "can you wash your hands first?" I figure it's my baby, and if I'm not comfortable with someone holding her then I just say no. Plus, when they're newborns you have to be a little extra careful with germs, they can get sick easily!

Honestly, I was more than happy to share. After all I've been holding the baby for 9 VERY long months. But I am on my first, I don't remember my feelings on others holding my first.

If the baby was happy to be passed around, then I was fine it. If the baby started to get unhappy though, or needed feeding/changing/sleep, then you just have to let everyone know and I am sure they will be okay with it.
It is good for babies to see lots of different faces, plus it can be a nice break for you.

A bit of both with my second, annoyed with the first. Second time round it didn`t bother me as much because I had more time to spend with my baby and knew I`d have him all to myself again soon.
Now he`s a year old, I love the break when he goes out with his daddy but I always feel as though I`m missing something!!!

I was happy to get a break & when my family & friends went home, that was my time to hold my baby.

With my first child, I went through post part-em depression and didn't want anyone to hold my baby.. Not even my husband.. That lasted for a month... But I got over it.. With my other two, I was glad to get a break...

We found this a real problems because we had a 11lb baby he was quite big and didn't like being cradled in your arms. he was happiest up against your shoulder or sat up. And nobody would listen and would cradle him which made him mad and upset. in the end we would take him off them which to them has made them think we are over-protective but we just wanted our son to be happy.
My advise would be do what you feel is best and ignore everyone else
