I don't think it's shallow...we're talking about core beliefs, here...I prefer to hang around with people who share at least some of my beliefs about issues important to me. Of course there are things about which we disagree; I don't want to hang out with clones of myself, either, but...if someone told me they admired people who "bombed abortion clinics," i think that'd be a deal breaker for me.

There is a social "guilty by association" I'll tie it to Romans chapter 1 "they which do these things have pleasure with those that do the same"
Basically people of common ideals associate with each other. Whether crooks or fishermen the pattern is consistent.
Let's take Redpublicans Yesterday Mark Shields of the Washington Post said Republicans are the party of Loyalty. They will protect their own.
This was in reference to Ruddy Giuliani and his long history of diverse sexual perversions. Republicans will except and protect him as the front-runner of the GOP.

After the selection process of 2000, I started to wonder what was going on in the minds of many of my Republican friends, so much so that unfortunately, yes, I started to judge people by their politcal party affiliation since most Republicans I know fully accepted the outcome of the 2000 without questioning it due to the outcome being favorable to them, instead of what was right for the country.
I can't be in the same room with hardcore social conservatives, especially if I have my family with me, since we are multi - cultural, secular and support diversity and civil liberties for EVERY American, not just wealthy white christians.
Thankfully we live in a wonderfully progressive city, so we can fly our freak flag high and not have to worry about having a cross burning on our front lawn

It's unavoidable. There are lots of things that go into my perception of a person. Some are more important than others. Disagreeing with me politically will of course make them less likable to me. But that doesn't mean I won't like them, because they could have plenty of other positive qualities to make up for it.

On the company they keep? maybe
On their political views? never
If someone hangs out with the wrong crowd then they should be avoided unless you want trouble to follow them.
Political views are a different story. If you judge people of different views then you undermine any chance of reasonable compromise or discussion.

On the company they keep? That's a little too kneejerk reaction right there.
Unless, of course, they really did hang with guys who liked to bomb abortion clinics or ram their boats into fishing vessels. That's a little....illegal.
I prefer to see people as individuals. We can't keep on getting ourselves wrapped up into the idea that one label defines us.

3. They say they "love God" and support war. or
4. They admire politicians who lip service "Christianity" and follow there own set of justified sins.
Do you judge others in an opinion even when your Savior warns not to?

specific. The conservatives are a caught up bunch, the are all prepared on human beings helping themselves and helping their own familes, leaving the unfavorable to fend for themselves. it works for the wealthy and those without little ones, yet too those with somewhat user-friendly quantities of money, like my relatives and my acquaintances families. it does not help. I dislike all Tori Supporters.

No, I have friends in all parties. If they're nice, friendly people, their political views do not effect my views on the type of person they are.
Well, if they are frequently socializing with people who aren't decent people, I might not like them as much as I would.

Only when they define themselves in those terms, to the exclusion of any other idenity.
In other words, I prefer to treat people as individuals. But if someone is determined to not be an individual, and do nothing but repeat others, then I grant them their non-identity and treat them as one of the pack.
