It depends. If they start clumping smelling or not as good as they used to be then yes toss! Other wise stuff you've bought over a year ago toss as well.

Hi
They do have a shelf life but too be honest its fine to use them if they still work ok.
After a long time lipstick can dry up if its old and crumble. Eyeshadow can go crumberly too and lipgloss would just go really really gloopy and sticky.
If they arent like that then they are probably ok to use! Most eye shadows and lippys last around 2 years but it varies depending on the brand and ingrediants!
As a tip if you keep your lippy in the fridge it lasts longer!

Lipstick and gloss will definitely go bad after a while--they will smell funky and rancid and the lipstick will feel waxy. The gloss may look like it's separating. No telling how long that will be, some go quicker than others. Eyeshadow doesn't really go bad, at least in my experience. I have some from years ago, and they're still good. Powders and blushes too. As long as it still smells OK, and works OK, it should be OK to use.

Yea i heard they go bad about three to six months after you first start using them. Theres a bacteria build up especially if you share it, even like every once in a while. I found out the hard way the same goes for foundation n concealer. I had it for about a year or so. Major breakout!!

best of rule of thumb, anything liquid or creamy 6 months, includes things like mascara to lip stick to cream blush and foundations.powders you can keep around safely a year. after that, the ingredients tend to break down and either the color wont look the same on your skin, or it will get bacteria and could possibly cause you some skin irritation.

as long as you keep it clean and in a sanitary place it shouldnt expire. But most lotions and creams will age and get bacteria so just smell and look at them to tell. Usually there consistency will change when they are to old.

If you are the only one to use them, they can last forever. If a lip item smells funny- get rid of it. Otherwise these items last for a long time.

Yes, I agree with 6 months. Nothing made of organic matter will last forever.

You really shouldn't keep any make up longer than six months it gives it time to breed nasty bacteria.
