I've tried to build muscles in the past and it didn't work out and I gave up. Now, I'm in the gym again and I've been in the gym for about 3 months now. I'm 6' tall and 150 pounds. I'm 26 years old.
Is it too late to build muscle at this age? I don't like being skinny because I want to look good and healthy. So, far I didn't use any supplement to help me build muscle, just eat and rest a lot. I go to the gym 2 times a week. I lift as heavy as possible for 3 reps. I usually work on my major muscles like chest, back, abdomen and thigh. The result is I just toned my muscles, and I haven't seen any muscle gain in 3 months.
What did I do wrong? Do I need those supplement (whey, creatin, etc)? Do I need to go to the gym every day? Please help. I appreciate any logical suggestions (no joke please). Thank you.

Ask a trainer at the gym. That's what he or she is there for. If there is not at your gym go to a gym that offers that service. You seem rather concerned so this should be a priority. You may have to pay for a couple sessions to get you started on the right regimen, but once they know you're serious they'll be glad to help you any time. They'll be the ones to recommend supplements for you. That's what they do. They're professionals. Good luck!

Opinions vary, as different things things work out for different people. Its a good idea that you visit a doctor and clear any doubts as why you are so skinny, it may be possible you are suffering from some aiment and not even know it.

Building muscle is not only going to the gym, but also eating and resting. 2 times a week is not enough to build muscles. To do that you need to train a lot harder increasing the resistance so that you are estimulated to grow. If you do the same thing over and over you will tone, and not achieve much. Forget about all those stupid supplements, creatine will damage your kidneys and you need those pro process the extra food your taking. You need to eat A LOT. Eggs, wheat, fish, MEAT, milk, cheese, TUNA, SALMON, TURKEY, etc in major proportions. Forget about getting fat cuz you wont get there. There are many customized plans you can find for free on the internet, ranging from working every day to jus 3 times a week.

hi mate try this it really works you do need a supplement, the best one if you are not lactose intolerant is drink 1litre of milk every day if it makes you get fat drink light milk but when you are building muscle you should gain a bit of fat. Now do not do anymore than 10 minutes light cardio to warm up, you must not do any serious cardio work or you will not grow. Now this is the most important part and you will love it after you get used to it. Once a week do really heavy leg work and lots of it. See what you can lift and drop it back to 70%, this means if you can squat 100kg drop it to 70kg. now next time increase it by 5kg do this untill you platue you will probably get up to over 200kg before this happens do 15 to 30 lifts 3 sets only. This scares your body into making adrenalin you will feel it.this gives you 2 days of increased testosterone. Use squats or incline machine same principle.2 times a week is good say on tuesday do heavy leg work, arm curls, and bench press do legs first. Friday do your back if your back is ok deadlifts are best if you have a week back do seated rows ,work your abs now incline crunch with weight you dont need to do any other type of lifting in fact it will stop you from gaining. You will feel sore at first and in a couple of weeks you will feel stronger .All of your lifting is the same as legs start at 70% but 2kg increase each week min 6 lifts but no more than 12 three reps when it gets really heavy do as many reps as you can one might be enough I went from 60kg bench to 150kg in three months. After about a month you will really notice your body changing and so will everyone else good luck and eat heaps of good food "NO FAST FOOD" lots of fish and protien.

Hi
I'm having the same problem like you but The other day i read something on the net, i started doing it not long time ago so here is wat u should do:
Do a strength cycle, and do power lifting-type workouts with much heavier weights. (As with all lifting programs, be careful not to overdo it, and always have a spotter when using maximal free weights.) Thoroughly warm up with at least 15 minutes of light cardio exercise and stretching, then do 4 to 5 sets of 3 to 5 repetitions of exercises like squats, dead lifts and bench presses.
Oh! and consume protein Before AND After exercise! and drink a lot of milk.
Hope i helped in any way.

Go to the gym atleast 4 x per week. 4 sets light to heavy about 10 reps and atleast 3 exercises per body part. Creatine will help you.
