I forgot the name of the plant. Its a common household plant that grows vines rapidly over the hanging planter(not spider). When we moved into the new house it was not cared for well. It does not grow anymore, but is still green. I suppose because I still water it. Is the plant dead? Can I root it? How do I root it. I bought the rooting powder.

Is it a pothos by any chance? It seems like everyone in America has one. Just so you are aware, plants go into a dormant rest period during the winter, so don't get too excited about it not putting off new growth. She's right in telling you how to take cuttings.

If it's still green... odds are it's still alive. If you can find out what it is that would probably help a lot.Cut a piece off and take it to a garden shop. It might be something as simple as you have it in a sunny window and it needs filtered light or vice versa.It could just go partly dormant this time of year. Without knowing what it is...real tough question to answer.

If it is what i think it is, all you have to do is take cuttings and stick them in a vase of water, they will root that way, there is no need for the rooting powder
