Every extra day baby is "locked" up inside, the better off baby will be. Do as the doctor requested and get the bed rest. The bed rest will keep your body from being active, and mere walking is an activity that can help induce labor. Get your significant other to wait on you. No vacuuming, no laundry, no standing by the stove to cook, no anything but going to the restroom. Your baby has a great outlook if something were to happen any day though so you need not panic if you do manage to go into labor.
I too had a bed rest prescription.....my doctors would tell me every week, you'll be lucky if you go another 2 weeks, and I made it every time. Ended up having my baby at 37 weeks. I did follow the rules though - stayed on the couch and lounged. Gets really boring and tiresome but it's just a small price to pay for a healthy baby outcome.
Drink plenty of water now too -- 100oz a day if you can manage. Keeps the amniotic fluid up and prevents dehydration. If you get to dehydrated, it can trigger contractions. Drink up, read plenty of magazines, and catch up on your soap operas!!!!
Oh yeah, and your doctors might want to give you a steroid shot or two for a quicker development of baby's lungs.... don't worry about that either. It won't hurt you or baby, just helps the growth progression.
Good luck with baby!!

Yes you are going into early labor. That's why the bedrest. If you do what the doctor says, you'll make it to 36 weeks which is the safest time to have the baby if you won't be 40 weeks. At 36 weeks you are considered full term. Baby will be fully developed and shouldn't be any problems. I was on bedrest with my middle child from 5 months on. With my youngest I was on bedrest from the first 2 months. Just relax and enjoy the down time. You'll wish you had it later on..lol. I'm mom to 3.

Everyone is different, With my first I started dilation at 34 weeks. By 35.5 weeks I was 3 cm, I had her 40 weeks on the dot :) I wenting labor by myslef. With #2 I walked around 4 cms. for a couple of weeks untill finally at 38 weeks they just induced me to get it over with lol. 35 weeks you are in the clear, the baby will be in Nicu for a bit but okay. 36 weeks there is a good chance the baby could come home with you just like a full term baby. Don't worry though, dr is probley just being causious. SOme women dilatie earlier then others.

My doctor told me i would be "out of the woods" at 35 weeks. That if i went into labor at that point they would just let me labor. At 34 weeks your baby is almost 5 lbs and 99% of the baby's born at this time live with no permanent side effects. Your doctor is just speaking from what she has seen other women do, there is no way to tell....you could go to 42 weeks, not likely but possible. Go to babycenter.com for more info on weekly prenatal developments, it's reassuaring to see how big they actully are at this point. Good Luck and Congratulations!

They could have had your due date off............. The baby comes when its ready, You are far enough along that the baby should be just fine. My dr. plans to take this baby 4 weeks early. Im 20 weeks. With some health issues. I get put on bedrest way before 34 weeks. I know it sucks but the reward is sweet at the end.

ha!! doctors don't know!! i was put on bedrest at 32 weeks b/c i was actually in labor!! i had to stay in the hospital for 4 days on this horrible medication that was OBVIOUSLY created by a man b/c it made me feel sicker than i ever have in my life!! my doc assured me that i wasn't going to make it to 40 weeks and put me on bedrest. not only did i make it to 40 weeks...i ended up being 10 days LATE!! she had to strip my membranes, break my water, make me be in labor for 26 hours before she did an emergency c-section. just relax and try not to think about anything bad happening. stress will only cause you to contract which you don't want either. relax and take advantage of everyone waiting on you hand and foot and the baby will be just fine. good luck and congrats!!

I'm sure you and your baby are ok! Everyone doesn't make it to 40 weeks. Pre-term is anything before 37 weeks. Most pregnancies are 38-42 weeks. I'm pretty sure they will give you steriods to make your baby's lungs stronger so he or she can breathe on their own when they get here. They might even give you something to stop the labor if you go into labor too early. I say just relax and take it easy. You both will be fine!

My friend just had a 33 week baby and my baby was born at 36 weeks. I would not worry, the only problem may be that the baby is a little small, but with food and love everything will be fine. They may want you to stay in the hospital a little longer or go twice a week to your pediatrician for weight checks.

If this happens soon, the baby can survive! I was six weeks early and 4 pnds and only in incubator 1 day! Hopefully, you can go to atleast 36 weeks! Stay in bed! Good luck! The baby can make it ok this early though!

I started dilating at 29 weeks and delivered at 35 weeks on the dot. I was on bed rest from 5 months on. It is VERY likely that you will make it full term ( my friend did and she started dilating at 32 weeks and made it full term) You might be early but you are so far along the baby will be fine as long as you do what the doc. said you will be fine!!
