His feelings are hurt because Republicans are saying that if edwards were elected, he would be our first female president.

It's not the wrong thing at all. I'm glad that Edwards had enough courage to actually stand up for what's right and being the first of the Dems to do so! And, finally, all Dems have dropped out! If the debate was being held on any other network, it'd be fine, but with Fox's totally right wing bias, it was the correct thing for the Dems to do! Bravo!

No, I don't think it's wrong per se. If he knows the environment is going to be biased against him from the outset, why subject himself to something which could potentially end his campaign (after all, debates have a long history of being able to do that, Nixon, Dukakis and Gore can attest to that). I think in large part his pulling out had to do with the fact that a Fox News reporter would be one of the questioners, along with the moderator and reporter from a local Fox affiliate.
However, you musn't think that I'm biased in favor of democrats or against Fox News. I would say a Republican candidate should have just as much right to pull out of a debate run by Air America, or moderated by Al Gore's tv network.
I think overall this does set a bad precedent. Edwards as a candidate should be able to deal with all questions that come up. Alas, however, our current red-v-blue political system doesn't allow that to happen.

Mr. Edwards has the right to meet with whom he pleases. The kind of questions Fox is likely to ask would probably be extremely biased against him instead of neutral. If conservatives refuse NBC they certainly have the right to do that. Perhaps any meetings of politicians should be on PBS or one of the networks with questioners representing both factions left and right. So if unfair questions are asked of one candidate by the reporter working for an unfriendly network there will be an opportunity for his opponent to also be asked questions of a similar nature by people of a network that opposes his side. We used to be able to trust the media to be unbiased but now it is all tabloid and none of them are free of bias.

I think it is great!
Democrats should boycott Fox News and anthing to do with Fox News. A republican propaganda channel is all Fox News is. They lie blatantly and spew nothing but the vile hate of the republicans. Go Dems! Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of Fox News.
Every Democratic candidate should spurn Fox News in every speech until the Fox News watchers know what they are watching. I mean they should say that Fox News is a propaganda tool of the republican party and we will not associate ourselves with Fox News in any way shape or form. Fox News reporters are not welcome here. Etc.
Take it to 'em, Dems!

No, nor was it wrong for the Nevada democratic party to back out of the same presidential debate over Fox's continual bashing of Obama for partisan reasons. Mr Ailes himself compares Obama to a terrorist;

Fair and Balanced is not what comes to mind when the President of Fox says such things.

Wow, I can't believe he did that. I hadn't heard that. What weak character he has. Does anyone really want someone that extreme and closed-minded to lead our country?
I think it's safe to say Edwards would be miserable at uniting the country and is bigoted towards a large percentage of citizens in the US.
If Edwards were ever to make it to the office of president, he's going to have one heck of time because he'll have to deal with an unbelievably biased world against Americans, which is a fact - not a trendy belief like the bias of Fox News. I guess he'll just tell them no, I refuse to talk to you.

is it pulling out if you were never in?
it says he turned them down... it doesn't mention he was ever in the debate...
pulling out implies that he agreed to do it, then backed out...
can any of you even be honest enough to even ask a simple question?
and why ON EARTH would it ever be wrong FOR ANYONE to turn down doing anything they simply didn't want to do, as long as they aren't legally obligated to do said action?
last I noticed... it's a free country?
if I ask you for your time... it's more than in your rights to deny me... no one is beholden to anyone...

No. I don't know why Democrats bother to be on Fox. The "moderators" don't let them speak, call them names and use them solely for their own agenda. Colmes, the "token" Democrat is the mousiest little Democrat I'm ever seen. He's only there to "prove"that he's representative of Dems, which is of course, a joke. How about a real Dem instead, if they really want the truth. I find it humous that all the networks except Fox, in your mind, are unfair. All? And your source is a blog?
