I think you Americans call them sweaters.

My son went to Scotland about three years ago on a mission trip. When he got back he told me they called hooded sweatshirts "jumpers", which was very odd to him since he knew it as a dress his mama wore.

i think there is alot of words we say over here that are diffrent from over there

sweater=jumper
soccer=football
pants-trousers
gas-petrol
mail=post

so on and so fourth.................
