I haven't seen it, but I love the books. In the adverts it looked great, but I've heard mixed feelings. I want an honest, true answer from people who know what they are talking about. Please no, "It was sooo stupid" or anything like that. Thanks!

It was OK. Entertainingg, but it does not follow the story line according to the book that well. There isn't a lot of character developement, it's hard to get attached to the characters or even feel sad when Braum dies. Bokk is way better of course. They covered the "surface" of the book, a lot of dragon riding in the sky and battle. that's it. They completely changed the whole thing between him and the elf too. You definitly should see it because you like the books so much, just don't expect too much, you'll be disappointed.

Hey, everyone has his/her own tastes and opinions. To me it was an OK movie. The reason why so many people didn't like it was because they expected a lot from it especially they thought it would be of the standards of LOTR. After watching LOTR the expectations of the general public from such fantasy movies has skyrocketed and I do not know who is to be blamed.
I suggest you go and watch the film since you said you liked the adverts and I interpret that you like fantasy movies. Also, even if you are a big fan of LOTR you still can go and watch the movie. But yeah, dont go with huge expectations. This movie is still much better than an average hollywood movie. Also, I suggest watching it only in a theater with all special effects. This is movie is not a good DVD buy unless you have a good TV and surround sound system at home.

It will be on DVD on March 20. Rent it and form your own opinion. Of Course, you are only going to get someone else's point of view of the book and not your own, but it is still a good movie.
The answerer above says too much was unresolved, but most people know Eragon is the first part of the Inheritance Trilogy with Eldest being the next book, which will leave some things unresolved.

I haven't read the books, but I felt the movie left too much unresolved. Maybe I just got too used to LOTR where the movies were so long, the entire story could be told within one sitting.
As for a good fantasy movie, it pales in comparison to LOTR. Plus just like every other book made into movie, true fans will be disappointed.

This is my advice to you.....
Just see the movie for yourself.
I have discovered that it's best to get your OWN opinion when it comes to movies because everybody has different likes and dislikes. Some people that I've asked their opinions on movies are totally different from my opinion.

It is an awesome movie, but they left out several thngs. But it is still worth buying. IT COMES OUT ON THE 20th!!!!!!!!!! YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
