I don't know what to believe when it comes to this sort of thing. My whole family seems to have ESP,but it's restricted to close friends and family members.I think in a strange way people connect and bond to those that matter most to them and they begin tuning into their feelings/emotions/behavior more,a hyper-awareness.For example if it's a relative or good friend then everyone in my family can tell who's going to be on the end of the phone before it's answered and usually what the call will be about. As for dreams,I've had a few dreams that have come true, usually ones that will cause a dramatic effect on friend/family's life.I knew my Aunt had been injured by a car before we received the call. The day before my cat died I sensed something was wrong I was sad/crying and didn't know why,and that night I dreamt about him dying, and the next morning we had to say goodbye.I've also dreamt about my cousins baby before the news came through.
I'm a skeptic about the sixth sense but I can't deny that these strange occurrences are more than coincidence,so I do believe that some people have a unexplained ability to sense something that is out of the norm in everyday life.Me I personally sense the atmosphere and feeling surrounding an event than actually seeing what will happen,I can't explain it I don't look too deeply into it,I just accept that it's something that runs in my family.

Minute details of my dreams have later surfaced in reality, but I think it was just coincidence at that level. However, I have a friend who has had several prophetic dreams. One dream ended badly, but the dream made her aware of what might happen and she changed the outcome so that her and her mom weren't killed in a car accident.
I just saw a show called 'Real Premonitions' on A&E within the last week. Pretty interesting stuff, I think. They detailed how some people believe that there is one future and if a person dreams it that it will happen the way it was dreamt without fail. Others believe that there are an infinite number of possibilities for the future and any one event can change its occurrence. There was a lot more, too... Maybe they have shows on the web at A&E's website?

I know how it feels to have this happen to you. It freaks you out at first. You don't know what to think. She will have to take time to understand which dreams will happen, and which ones won't - some may not. She will be able to figure this out with time. The thing is, she has to embrace this new "gift" as it is called. They say if the dream is very vivid, where she knows exact places, people, etc., it is more likely to be a true one. There is a book she should read called "Dreams That Come True" by David Ryback with Letitia Sweitzer

There are many examples of dreams that seemed to predict future events. Some may have been due to coincidence, faulty memory, or an unconscious tying together of known information. A few laboratory studies have been conducted of predictive dreams, as well as clairvoyant and telepathic dreams, but the results were varied, as these kinds of dreams are difficult to study in a laboratory setting.

I think we have tons of dreams, some we remember and some we do not. I'm sure that some of her dreams come true, but not all of them. I wouldn't worry too much about a dream that might or might not come true. She could be worrying herself silly over something that might not ever happen. Even if she sees the dream coming true, she shouldn't try to change it (Remember Butterfly Effect), she might try to change what happens in the dream and something worse could happen!

I had this same sort of thing happen just last night. I had a dream that someone would ask this very question about dreams. In my dream, a young lady was asking me if I ever had a dream that actually happened and I told her "yes"!! What a coincidence! Oh, my gosh! I can't believe this!

Well, I once had a dream where my ex-best friend fell down the stairs at her house. So the next day I told her to be careful, but it was too late, she told me that when she was coming down the stairs to go to school, she tripped on her brothers skateboard and fell down the stairs. Back then I thought "ZOMGOSH! You have to be more careful!" Now I laugh mockingly at her anytime I think about it.

I use to have de ja vues alot when I was younger. After a while I got use to it and just let it go as being normal . I chalk it up to my past preoccupation of worring about the future and resolving alot of stuff in my dreams.
