Also is it common for the transmission to just go without any sign or warning I mean we put maybe 400 miles on the thing in the two weeks we've had it and all of a sudden it just goes?

they have engines and trans at the best price I have found and when you order from out of their home state no tax! and when you give your zip-code shipping will be included. Also you can get up to two years warranty
You can also find a local mech. to put it in for you to save money.
BAD NEWS they are out of your trans for now
