lol, I see your point!

At this point, so much information has been generated in English, especially in the last century, that if everyone gave up speaking the language today (which would never happen) it would likely be studied for centuries to come. Besides, English has infiltrated every other language on Earth to some extent, and so it will live on, even if it's grammatically incorrect! ;o)

Sure it can--many, many countries speak English--or at least their children are taught English in grade school. Our country is dumb for waiting till high school, when it's harder, to teach foreign languages.
