Not if you're still in good shape physically. I took gymnastics in college, and at 20, it was too hard to do the back handsprings I had done when younger, but cartwheels are no big deal, and for the splits, you just need to go slowly and do a lot of stretching to get your body flexible.

No its not too late, but it will take you a lot longer than those learning at 4 and 5. It take great coordination to do a cartwheel, and perserverance as well. Learning the splits with probably be the more difficult of the 2. Being older(not old though) than most who learn to do the splits, your muscles will take more streching, (unless you're already flexible). Most likely, it will take a few months for you to do the splits, as you should go slow. However, as long as you keep at it, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to do a cartwheel or the splits. Good luck.

No, it's not too late. I am 37. While it is true that I learned to do both things when I was a teenager, because of work and other stuff....on several occasions i've stopped doing them for extended periods of time (years), and then have had to start from scratch again. You can re-train yourself to do them, and in about 1 week, you can perform them perfectly.

Regarding splits - they are not hard, you just need to be patient and careful. Spread your legs apart a little bit more every day. Try to split your legs and keep them spread open for some seconds. Return to start position. Repeat a few times. Don't over do it in one day. Keep insisting the following days. In about a week or two, you'll have mastered it.

your greater effective to do the splits and cartwheels once you're stillin the "growing to be" degree of your existence the place your bones are greater versatile and are not totally stepped forward. As we become previous, looking on our exercising ranges for the time of our existence, our bones and joint seem to stiffen up greater ensuing in some distance much less flexibility. Me in my opinion, i'm not the main energetic person, and no, i won't be able to do the splits or cartwheels anymore....until i initiate exercising consultation and flexing my muscle groups greater generally.

ABSOLUTELY not!

When I was still a spring chicken I taught a young man who was your age how to do cartwheels. If he can learn so can you.

Remember to stretch every day like one person said.
You must stretch several times a day to learn how to do splits.

Even with years of gymnastics training it was something I never could master, it's not as easy as it looks, but if you have perserverence, you'll be doing it in no time at all.

The key words here are: PRACTICE!! EVERY DAY!!

And don't listen to ingnorant jack a**es who think that doing splits have anything to do with children showing off thier sexual proweress'!! He's sick and twisted. Ignore the stupid people and they WILL go away!!

Blessings!!

Cartwheels and splits are a feat best reserved for 11 year olds who wish to exploit thier mental and physical sexual prowess. 28 is a bit beyond this minor stage of Comming out. Many dancers imbibe this level of maturity throughout there lives as a reason to not mature mentally. This immature fortitude will blind, and cripple you as to the real way forward. The many stages of life give you a whole perspective that is conducive to many more exploits of much more interests. Joy and exitement await those who care not for yesterday but live for today-with a wisdom of experience and forgiveness. Unless you are a horn dog with 2 sheets to the wind I suggest you build a life of trust and sanctaty.

It is absolutely not too late!

But, be warned that to do splits you will have to stretch your legs daily until you can do a full 180 split. Do not try to do it cold, you will regret it!

Have fun :o)

no its not too late. i would say before trying to do a complete split, try doing different crotch/ leg stretches and then slowly work you way down, they first time you might not go down far, but stop once it starts to hurt and hole it there for a few seconds.. you'll slowly work your way to being able to do it.
for cartwheelsstand and then start to lean to one side, as you do stick out your arms and push off on your inside legthen kindof switch you weight so that it gets you to the other side/ use your legs to 'swing' to the other side, it may not be perfect but like i said earlier keep practicing. try it from the other side and see which leg your better with. i am right handed, but in sports my left foot tends to be better. you may even want to try and do a little jump before leaning/pushing. this helps get momentum.

no way!!
in fact its better because your legs are straight when you learn it and you have the correct form, unlike little kids who would learn a kartwheel, do it wrong, and develope a bad habit, they're really fun!!! as for the splits, that is a little harder to accomplish i suggest stretching every day, i know you'll get it
and remember your NEVER too old to learn something cause you know your boundries, well have fun~~hope i helped

It depends on the condition you back, arms, legs, and bones are in. As you get older, your bones get worse. If you have any doubts about hurting yourself, don't learn to. If you have no doubts, go ahead. Better to be safe than sorry.
