The Maya believed that their world would end on Dec 21, 2012. Of all the dates put forth by prophets and cultures for a doomsday, this is one with an authentic almost eerie feel to it because the maya calendar has proved correct in astrological events before...

The maya calendar dates back 3000 years BC ..and is most consistent with our current calendar..BUT their calendar ends Dec 21, 2012

The Maya claimed that this future end-time would include a solar shift, a Venus transit and mounting earthquakes.

Modern astronomy tells us that this date ends an astronomical 26,000-year process...meaning the end?

Some say this date galaxy will collide or possibly GOd will return and will make his return at the Ethipoian Highlands...in Africa where human life is said to have originated.

Regardless of which you believe.the world is gonna end, the bible says so...but doesnt allude to when...

Could the maya who have always been so right...Be Very right this time as well??

I think we may be in for a hot bumpy ride for the next few years. We may even witness more deaths due to stronger hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis. The Mayans do not expect life to end, at the end of their calendar, only life as we know it, but it could end if man causes it to end. Here is a little summary about the Mayan people and their beliefs.

The Mayan Indians regard their beliefs as both a science and a religion. Their discoveries are not done in a lab but rather by tapping into the cosmos via the mind. Through the extensive use of meditation, they are able to discover and track planetary movements as well as space anomalies such as black holes. They used this information to construct a calendar so accurate that no present day calendar can rival its accuracy. They also use this information to predict future events.

According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be aligned , with the Milky Way's equator. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. We will have exited the forth dimension and entered the fifth dimension. This date also marks the end of the Mayan "Great Cycle" of the long count, which is equivalent to 5125 years. We exit the age of Pisces and enter the age of Aquarius.

In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity may cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. In this state of higher consciousness, we will recognize that all matter, plant, animal, mineral are bound as one. This realization will mark the end of wars for a time. People will be able to connect to the essence of god (vibrating energy) like only the most enlightened can.

The date marks a goal to be reached. Evil forces will make every effort to keep humanity from reaching the date. These evil forces are those entrenched in the third dimension, in the Material world. They have no desire to leave this age and wish to continue exploiting and endangering all life for material gain.

Wars just prior to this date could be most devastating, with a loss of as much as 2/3 of our population anticipated. The resulting man made environmental damage could make life inhospitable for those who survive.

Humans have freewill, Man's future is not set yet, nor predictable:
STRIVE FOR PEACE

The date in Mayan predictions does not imply the 'end of the world', but the end of a cycle. An end implies a beginning, and this is just what it is. The new cycle will bring back an Ancient Knowledge. This knowledge is more ancient than any previous so called discovery. It deals with a lost continent and the knowledge that was sent to the 7 ancient centers of the world when the continent sank in what is now the Pacific Ocean. Before Atlantis. Before recorded history. It will return in its purity and not as watered down by the racial conciousness of those who received the original works.

No the world will not end. It's just a date to signify the end of the world "as we know it" and we'll be firmly in the Fifth Dimension. The fourth began when lifeforms formed two lobes of the brains. Those of the past couldn't see that far ahead because they are always tied to human form, which is limited by the level of evolution of consciousness at their time.

Look at the changes in the world the last 100 years.....female rights, gay rights, black rights then add in the growth in technology. It's been a major major change.

For a start, the Majan calender is nothing like the western calender. Also the date of 2012 is when it resets, not when the world ends. Plus, throughout history have we always had digital clocks? It could have bee '2012' years ago, according to the Mayans.

Seems to me the world ended quite a bit earlier than 2012 for the Maya, didn't it?

Despite the best efforts of the Bushites and their foes in Iran, North Korea, and so forth, I doubt we'll witness the end of the world in our lifetimes.

I hope there's about three days of panic before so I can see it all on CNN. You know the crazy stuff! Like a guy stealing a box of bathtubs plugs.

Nope. Who knows? It could be then, it could be tomorrow, it could be a million years and two weeks from now. So no, I don't believe anything that other humans, who just like me have no psychic abilities, predict. Sounds interesting though.
