I've had several companies and venues in my life. So, I suppose I have the credential to advise you. Don't try to get "investors" until you have something beside yourself to sell. You will wasting your time, and what's more important, their time.......they will remember.

First you will need a track-record of success if you want anyone other than your Mom to invest in you company. You will need a good reputation in the community, both as a business person, and an artistic person. Check with local officials for guidance as well as the Small Business Association. They often have mentoring programs, and can help you find loans.

Start with friends, co-workers, family and branch out from there.
