Well Birmingham is a large city and the proposal for a 55,000 seat stadium is the centrepiece of a much larger scheme called The Birmingham Sports Village. The sports village will be huge and offer facilities for a range of sports making it a favourable location for international and national sporting events (eg. European Indoor Athletics Championships).
The stadium would be so large so that it could accommodate large crowds for events other than BCFC matches. It is known that the largest crowd known to attend a BCFC was over 60,000 and with a stadium this large, it would be the pride of the team and fans making them willing to go and use it.
Birmingham was recognised, by the man who led the campaign for us to get the Olympics, as Britain's sporting city and with this stadium, then this title can have an image with it.
So it's not just for the football team, it's for the city and the country.

one reason is that they are probably going to hold the english national team, second reason is that it is an historical club with many supporters and such a studium adds lots of prestige to a club. you must consider that in england even very small teams have a lot of fans! if u ask my opinion a 55,000 seats stadium is a bit too much but as i said england is the country of football..

They don't
However they aren't the smallest of clubs so why can't they dream? in the future they may have wanted a bigger stadium but could get denied planning permission, not have the money or the costs could be higher. Do it while you can. On top of this property value is always going to rise so land would be more expensive to buy in the future along with materials to build a new ground.
Good on them I say for having a dream.

Thats easy, So that they can draw a sports team there that will onviously have a losing season allowing them to blam the loses on the team and therefor raising taxes to pay for it. Then when they finally have a winning season they can jack up the prices into the upper heavens and keep that tax as well so that the owners and politicians can enhance their kick-backs take pats on the back about what a great idea it was.

They should be holding the English national team instead of it being all the way down in London. Birmingham is the closest for many fans, London is the closest for the V.I.P supporters who don't go to watch the game.
Birmingham should actually have a larger ground.
