Did you miss the wedding proposal of the star RB for Boise State to his girlfriend, a Boise State, cheerleader, after the bowl game?
It happens sometimes. I know first hand as a trainer that football players don't have a lot of time and obviously, just like people that work together, they're going to gravitate to people they're around the most often. In some college programs there is a rules that players and cheerleaders aren't suppose to have relationships. It's the same thing with football players and female athletic trainers. I knew of a girl I went to school with in college that was reprimanded for having a relationship with a football player because she was a cheerleader and it was considered "unprofessional".
So really it all just depends. But it definitely happens. You fall for whomever you fall for though, football player or not.

Not as much as you would think. I mean in the NFL, it's actually highly uncommon for cheerleaders to have serious relationships with the players. I know that with some professional teams that a cheerleader can be fired if there is a serious relationship with a player and the media caught on to it. Maybe it's a little more commonplace in college and it's definitely highly common in high schools, especially in small towns. It depends on the level more or less and where it's happening.

All the time. All the schools I've been to the cheerleaders have always "hooked up" with the football players.

Sure, it's dating within your pool of coworkers. You see this in any profession, people meet at work and learn about each other and make friends, some make lovers. It's a social network like any other, so it makes perfect sense.
Plus they will have some of the same mentalities, they'll both be fit and into fitness, both be willing to travel and be away from family, and both be willing to accept sacrifices for their careers.
