It depends completly on the laptop. The average charge time for a normal laptop battery is about 1 to 2 hours. A newer computer should get close to 2 hours, but it all depends.

A higher end CPU will generally eat up more battery life, same with having a machine with a lot of RAM. Accessing your HD a lot will also shorten how long your charge lasts, as will accessing the optical drive.

There are power saver setting which can increase the time per charge that lower the brightness of the screen, slow the CPU, and turn the HD off when not in use. Generally with all this turned on it pushes the charge to about 2 and a half hours, maybe three if you're lucky.

It very much depends on the model of the laptop (I've seen figures quoted from 45 minutes to 4+ hours for standard batteries... most seem to be in the 2-3 hour range when new) and how old the battery is.

Li-ion batteries decay pretty badly... they can lose most of their capacity in 5 years even when looked after, so your laptop's battery life will get shorter and shorter.

Plus it depends how you use it on battery... full on gaming or DVD playing or just typing, how bright the screen is and so on.

Sorry, there is no definitive answer.

As already said, it depends on the age, and type of your battery. If you have a laptop, and are finding the battery-life too short, you should compare it to the life claimed by the manufacturer. If it's an old battery you might want to consider buying a new one from sites such as ebuyer.com

Depends on what the laptop is doing - and manufacturer/model of laptop. Can be from 1 to 4 hours depending on the above factors.
