after a guitar is set up...how many times after will it need to be reset-up...what necessitates it to be set up again? besides humidity, and changing to bigger or smaller gauge strings...i dont plan to change to a larger or smaller gauge string set...but i was wondering if i would need a set up after changing old strings for new ones...or does the bridge and truss rod and crap stay put...?

You have a good understanding on what makes a guitar work.

You should not have to touch anything unless you change string gauge, although it is always a good idea just to check intonation at each string change.

If you stay with the same gauge, you only need to check the intonation a little when you replace strings. If you're happy with the action, you never touch the truss rod. If you're not, you ste the brodge a tad lower and ONLY if there is some buzz on only one or two strings would you touch the truss rod (or be smart and take it to a pro). In fact, don't touch truss rod, ever. You're a beginner, and truss rod is not a toy, it can screw up your guitar beyond repair.

No, you shouldn't have to mess with the truss rod or bridge unless it gives you problems. If you do change strings to a smaller size, you intonation should still be there, are very close. To me, I feel that you don't fix nothing that isn't broke. Best of luck to you.

Unless you're a professional, touring/gigging player, Most of us (ie: casual players) don't keep up w/ stuff like the bridge or truss rod -unless of course a problem w/ them arises. Most casual players will only worry about changing strings if/when they start sounding dull. Otherwise, common sense things like keeping your guitar from very cold or very warm temps should keep it in fine working order.
