If without obstacles of the greedy, conspirators, creepy
relatives, and those that think "their" person or charity deserve
your money more than you do: I would try something that in theory might work to benefit people better than handing out money. I would build a small manufacturing plant, and hire
50 workers. Around the plant I would build 50 residential
homes. Each worker would be given the option of accepting
a home as part of their work payment. The set payment of their work to own their home would be 20 years. Each would start with a health care plan, and a pension plan commencing
at 30 years. A day care center would be provided, and with the ability to walk to work money could be saved. Wages would start at $2. over min. wage for those selecting the "I want a house option" to a starting wage of $4.00 over min. wage for those who did not, with work evaluations for raises
every 6 months. (for every $5.00 an hour raise the home owner would get a $3.33 an hour raise.) until the 20 years
were up and then receive clear title to his/her home and have to pay the taxes and the insurance on the home himself.
I would try to live a little above middle class, but not much,
holding back at least a few millon for living, and a few for the
plant. (In case profits dropped below the balance level for pension deposit.) Hands on checking out the plant (Corp
head, so to speak, but not plant manager. Creating work insentives, and making sure the workers were treated fairly.

I would be able to go on the mission field not having money problems. I want to go help people in the dumps in the Philippines or another country. If I had alot of money, I could help build so many houses for people. Like one ministry is doing for the poor people of Jamaica. They are building houses for the poor people down there. I think that is so great for them to have a good house instead of a shack.
Even if I don't have alot of money, I am going to next year help people get out of the dumps. I will need money then, I hope, I can get alot of money for these people.

I would travel the world getting to know the poorest of poor people and I would help them by building houses and/or creating economic opportunities for them.
That's what I'm doing now but I don't have a billion to work with. So far, I've raised about $1200 and together with my own money, I'm building a house for a single mother of 4 in Cambodia and helping them to become farmers. I wish I was rich (or younger) so I could do more for more people.

I would buy all of my sisters a new house, and set up college funds for their kids.
For myself, I would travel the world and then buy houses in the areas I liked best.
At least 50% of the income I earned from interest would go to charity (it's selfish, but I wouldn't want to touch my principal.)
I would NEVER EVER work again. I know some people say they would, and good for them, but I'm already looking forward to retirement.
If I did anything, it would be managing my charitable fund, which would be a lot of work, but would be a good use of my time.

What a great question! Actually I would give the majority of it to charities and keep a few hundred thousand for myself (like maybe 500,000.00) I don't think I'd live to differently except I'd be able to pay all my bills and I'd have what I needed when I needed it. It would enable my family and I to do missionary work without having to worry about funding so that would be great!

I would do nothing. All day.
No one would know about the money either. I'll spend it like I normally do so it lasts all my life and I would still be happy. Spending the money on things I don't need right now while I don't have the money would just make me want more things I don't need.
