I am disabled and was getting SSI. I inherited some money and purchased a house. I lost my SSI which is understandable. I didn't work much in my lifetime because I was married twice and stayed home.

In my own lifetime earnings I'm told I will receive $226.00 a month if and when I ever reach 65. I am fighting a life threatning disease and need that small amount NOW. I'm told I cannot get this because I didn't apply during the so called proper time. I did, however, my file was lost through them and I can't prove it. I'm told this is the law, and I can write to the government about this. I have a number times, but my letters have been ignored and never answered. I've contacted social security attorneys, and they tell me the same thing. Too bad, they say I didn't apply during the right time.

This isn't fair, I did work and at least made what I made, I have been told I will receive medicare when I reach 65, that I worked enough to qualify for that. I have 15 years 2 go.

you can not get your answer on this website. i don't know how much you inherited-nor the limit for applying for benefits. if they told you that you did not apply at the right time-try again.

change you last name to rodriguez or gonzales and you'll get it right away. Our government sucks. I had 3 back surgeries and cannot walk or stand more than 2 hours a day. Those aholes denied me 3 times. I got a lwayer and went all the way to the fed judge. Once the fed judge seen my MRI and xrays and all the opoid pain meds I am on he immediately granted my SSI disability, We'll see how long now it'll take before I start getting checks. Do what I did go all the way to the top. Youll need an atty it'll take at least 1 year seems as our government is now allowing illegal non US citizens access to social security even though they are not citizens or can speak english or have ever worked a job in the US. Canada aint lloking too bad.Or Amsterdam

Get a good lawyer and ask if you can approach the problem in another way - Perhaps by starting the process to claim disability benefits over again from the beginning.

Go to your local congressperson's office and explain the situation to them and enlist their aid in fighting for your social security. Depending on your situation they might be able to help you.

In addition you said you were married twice but you did not say for how long or whether or not either of your spouses were living. If you were married for at least 9 years and your spouse is dead; at age 65 you can collect whichever ss benefits are higher: yours or theirs.
