Never! LOL Those foods are ultra-processed and practically devoid of nutritional value in their natural state. The only reason they contain vitamins & minerals is because they are added in after the fact, sneakily labeled as "fortified"....
If you follow current feeding guidelines, and wait until your baby is at least 6 months old to begin introducing solids, it won't matter much anyway. Those pureed foods are meant for babies who can't swallow without gagging, which generally means they are too young for solids anyway. Waiting until your baby is past the tongue-thrust and gag reflex stage means that you can actually start them out on finger foods and table foods.
Mashed banana, mashed avocado, and boiled, mashed yams make wonderful 1st foods for older babies. It's simple to cook up a batch, and you won't even need a special grinder or processor since your baby won't need those slimy pureed foods. After a few more months, your baby will be ready to move to chunked foods instead of mashed. And you will have saved a fortune in those jarred foods and boxed powdered cereals! :)
Please consider breastfeeding as well. Your milk will offer the most complete nutrition suited perfectly for YOUR baby. Not to mention immunities, closeness and comfort, and the fact that it's FREE. :) Best of luck and congratulations!
PS if there's a history of allergies in either family, a) breastfeeding will be even more important to your child's health, and b) your doctor may advise waiting even longer to introduce solids, to give your baby's system a chance to mature more before introducing possible allergens.

stuff like that varies from baby to baby. if baby is able to sit up with little or no help and baby's head isn't wobbling all over the place, start with rice cereal so baby can get used to swallowing and something a bit thicker than milk. as long as baby is doing well with the cereal, i'd say 3-4 times a day for a few weeks then introduce veggies. baby won't really like them at first, but just keep with it. then after baby's got the veggies down introduce fruit. my doc told me to do fruit last since it's sweeter and baby will want that and not the veggies if you do it the other way around. and the sugar is a little more difficult for baby's stomach. then the yucky pureed meats around a year old. but keep an eye on how your baby reacts and don't rush baby. you know eventually baby's going to be eating solid foods so if it's not working well, put the jars away for another couple of weeks and then try again. that was the advice my mom gave me about everything (not just feeding) and it worked with everything from bottle feeding to potty training!! baby will get it when they're ready and rushing him/her will only cause more stress to you and the baby. good luck!!

If the baby is drinking a 8 ounce bottle and is still hungry its most likely time to use some rice cereal watered down a bit so baby doesnt choke.
Jar food is a long standing debate between moms and doctors.
Personally I started my little ones on jar/processed food shortly after {about a month} I started them on rice cereal.
Babies do not have a defined palate so basic plain foods are best to start with.
Eggs, fish, honey or highly seasoned foods should not be given till after 1 year old though for safety and health reasons.

With my first child, I to was wanting to know answers to lots of questions.. You will know when the time is right.. Basically when the formula or breast milk, whichever you are going to use, is not satisfying anymore.. Probably around 5-6 months.. Also, when the baby is able to sit up in the high chair and hold it head up on it's own.. That's what my pediatrician told me with my second child.. The first pediatrician sucked and could never give me an answer that made sense.. That's why I switched.. Lol. Also, you don't have to only listen to your doctor... You will know when the time is right for your child to be introduced to baby food.. After all, the pediatrician is not at home with you to hear your baby cry because he/she is still hungry after getting their bottle.. Also, you might want to try baby cereal first before the fruits and veggies... Just try a little and see how he/she does with it.. That should also be given to him/her when you feel the milk is just not satisfying anymore.. Good luck Hun and congrats!!

Nobody I've ever heard of introduced baby food at 2 months. Babies' digestions are not ready for anything but milk at that point. The commonly accepted age range for introducing solids is 4-6 months. I have always gone with four months for all seven of my babies. They sleep through the night better once they have a full tummy with some cereal in it.

Well the doc will say 5 months but 4 is ok if the baby is a big eater and they can handle things with out there tummy getting upset. Remember to feed them the same kind of food for 5 days then you Can go on to another kind( to check for allergies)

I started with rice cereal at 4 months. Then I slowly added new foods, I'd put a little fruit in his cereal, then plain fruits (although they say you shouldn't do fruits first because they're sweet and he may not like veggies later, but I did and he still loves his veggies) then veggies( the sweet ones like sweet potatoes and squash first, then green veggies) we started meats at like 7 months. If you're breastfeeding full time you may want to wait until 6 months to start introducing food.

My son turned 4 months on the 7th and I started him on cereal and fruit this week. I will start him on vegetables next week. (I just want to do approx. 3 days per food to make sure he doesn't have allergic reactions to the foods I am introducing.)
Good Luck with your new baby!
