I want to add a forum to a website I'm creating using dreamweaver...anyone know where I can get free coding for this? Do I need to have a .php or a .sql data base set up? How does that work? (My hosting provider allows for databases..if need be)

You will need support for a server-side scripting language such as PHP, and a database like MySQL. The most popular free forum software is http://www.phpbb.com/ - there you will find downloads, installation instructions, etc.

In addition to the posts above, I would like to add the following:

Check out if your hosting plan includes options to install a forum. Sometimes webhosting plans include such options. They also include an easy wizard to get the forum installed and running.

If this is the case, its much easier than uploading your code and configuring the forum yourself.

Hope this helps.

I agree with all of my colleagues above.
Go into your website's cpanel on your server and have a look at the fantastico scripts.
That will be the easiset way to do it.
Otherwise here is a top forum as used by Warrior Forum community: http://forum.snitz.com/

This section interior cPanel provide you with a variety of scripts to elect from and it is going to installation the scripts for you with a click of a button and some consumer-friendly recommendations. wish that permits :)
