My partner and I have two chidren, we each brought one to the relationship. We want to get pregnant, but insurance does not cover fertility. I would adopt, but for some reason that seems so expensive also. I think if we want to give love to a child, why so much money. We live in a state that allows civil unions and gay adoptions, but we would rather get pregnant. I don't know if we should try soliciting a guy or what.

My friends had the same delimma...I know it may sound weird but one had their brother donate his sperm and the other one of coarse carried the baby...that way the baby was really a biological or blood related to both of them...they really had wanted this and had to contemplate the future issues but thought it was still the best plan for all of them...as for how to get the sperm with the egg...they had sterlized tubes....hope this helps out

Well, there are a few ways to go about this:

1.) You could go to a sperm bank and get artificially insiminated. That way, there's no child support matter. It's almost the same rules as adoption. The donor surrenders all rights to any child produced by the sperm. No legal battle.

2.) You could get a guy involved donate the sperm for you. That way, you know him and everything. He can sign away his parental rights and then you and your partner have a baby. Again, no legal battle.

That's a couple of examples. The only problem I'm having is why your insurance wouldn't cover the pregnancy. You and your partner are both healthy women of child-bearing age, right? It just seems a little fishy to me (pardon the pun). I'd be checking into that, if I were you.

Good luck, moms-to-be. *gglz*

Yeah, it's a tough call and you have my full support. I'm a male to female transsexual, and the only way I'll ever be able to be a mother, after my transition's complete, is through adoption, or as a stepmom.
It's sad, because I soooo want to be a mom! Best of luck, and don't give up on either route open to you!!!

You could also try working through the foster care system.
My wife and I have been fostering for a few years, and all three of our children are adopted....and special needs.
I can't tell you how wonderful they are, nor how much the give to us. I do understand that it's not the path for everyone, but I do recommend that you at least look into it.
Good luck!

I feel like adoption is best in your case, if ya'll don't want to mess with a man. There are way too many children in foster care and too little people who care.

I think you could find a willing guy if you wanted to. The problem is that something would have to be done to eliminate the child support for the guy.

Personally, I think you should ask a male friend to be a sperm donor.
