I have known my friend for 5 years now. We are almost like best friends (both of us female, so it's not a dating type thing). She and I have been talking online and on the phone for 5 years and we are planning on meeting soon. She's not really nervous but I'm VERY nervous because I am not confident about the way I look. We've shared pictures with eachother but I've only sent ones that I felt ok sending. Once we hang out in person there's no way to hide certain things. I've gained weight since the last pictures she's seen of me and I'm scared and embarrassed.

Any advice on feeling better meeting in person?

Any of you had this experience?

I've met many people in person that I became friends with online first. If she is really your friend, she really won't care how you look or how much you weigh. She is just going to be excited to finally meet her good friend.

You should send her an updated picture. Just tell her you got some new ones taken and ask her if she wants to see. Then, you are being honest about your appearance and she will be able to recognize you when you do meet.

Like you said, you aren't dating her! Don't worry so much about if you've gained weight or not, friends don't usually care about that kind of stuff. Just make sure you look your best - hair/makeup and I'm sure everything will be fine. You guys have been friends for 5yrs because you click, that wont change in person as long as you don't make it awkward.
