I am currently pregnant for the 3rd time (two previous losses) but Im not sure how far gone I am, maybe just 5 weeks.

I have a really bad chesty cough at the moment that just won't loosen up and this may sound really stupid but does anyone think hard coughing can bring on a miscarriage? I don't want to sound thick but obviously because of 2 previous losses I need all the reassurance I can get. I haven't taken anything for it (apart from glucose, honey & lemon mixture-pharmacist gave me the ok) and I am due to see my doctor on Monday but I just wanted some advice because all the muscles in my lower abdomen are starting to pull because of the coughing.

you should be fine just make sure you take it easy until you doctor tells you what the problem could be try to stay off your feet as much as possible because if the muscles are pulling you could hurt yourself and not just the baby drink as much water as you can

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

I don't think coughing can bring on a miscarriage. Since you have had other losses (so sorry) I would take it easy and maybe put yourself on bed rest until you go to the doctor (if you can).

2 weeks ago, I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant.

2 days later I got a HORRIBLE cold.

My doctor wouldn't let me take any medicines.

So, I did use honey lemon cough drops. And I took lots of HOT showers, trying to steam myself open.

But, I too was worried about the amount of coughing I was doing.

Miscarriages do not happen because of coughing. Period.
Women test as soon as they can these days so know they're pregnant much earlier.
The downside of this is, at least 25% of these women will miscarry. In by gone days, it would have been just regarded as a late period.
I wish you well, though.

I really don't think that it would hurt the baby. My aunt told me to try not to throw up so hard because I'll have a miscarriage, and she was sooo wrong. So if throwing up violently in the first trimester didn't hurt my baby, I think coughing shouldn't hurt yours. Congratulations on your pregnancy, good luck and God bless.

You should be fine. I had bronchitis during my second pregnancy (I lost my first), and the dr. said coughing wouldn't cause a miscarriage. Try inhaling steam or rubbing Vicks Vapor Rub on your chest (nasty, I know, but it works).

You should be fine, but go to the doc for that cough; It's natural that you are worried with your history, but the abdo muscles that hurt from the coughing will not affect your baby
