what sort of trades will the Chicago Bears be making in the next couple weeks. New quarterback? New running back?

Glad you asked. I'm a monster bears fan.

1. They're going with Grossman. I don't know why. I think that they just decided that he's their guy. A lot of fans I know wanted to sign Garcia. I don't blame them. I think that if we started Garcia in XLI we would have won the game. That's water under the bridge now. Griese is better than most the free agents left, so there is no free agent solution to the bears QB issue. I say we make a deal for Trent Green. The Bears should get Green and demote Grossman, like Baltimore did with McNair and Boller. But they won't.

2. The Bears are sold on Cedric Benson. They like Adrian Peterson as the backup. I'm not sure about Benson's durability. The guy seems to be banged up too much. I think that they don't have much of a choice but to go with Benson because they kind of painted themselves into a corner with him. Besides, Benson is young and can still be really good. I think the Bears should look at taking a flyer on a free agent. Like a Correll Buckhalter or a Kevan Barlow. You know, just some veteran depth.

3. Lance Briggs is going to be a Bear, even if he's unhappy. There are guys all around the league who are pissed that they got the franchise tag slapped on them. Too bad. That's just how it works.

4. WR- I say the Bears get some insurance here in free agency. They need a guy that knows how to play in the NFL and can make Rex look good. Muhammad is a year older and Berrian's a little fragile. They need some veteran help. Wesley Welker would have been ideal. He's solid and runs good routes. Hey, he even made Joey Harrington look good at times. But he's gone so you've got the Keenan McCardell, Travis Taylor, Eric Moulds, etc. etc. They can even go crazy and pick up a Kevin Curtis. But they need some veteran experience and depth with good hands. I'd even take Stokely.

The Draft- I like Angelo. I would like the Bears to draft offense, either at offensive line or TE, but Angelo can't draft offensive talent to save his life. So they gotta draft defense and they know it. They will take best player available at every defensive position. They'll get a DT a S a CB an OLB, etc. The best thing they could do is make a statement and trade their 31 and 37 for a mid first rounder and pick up LaRon Landry or Reggie Nelson. One of those guys would fit right in and keep the D on top.

I'm out!

The Bears should take a look at Paul Poslusny (sp?) for their first round draft pick since he may still be available for them. Lance Briggs is an uphappy camper and he may holdout. Paul would be a great addition to their defense. The best available DT on the board would also be a good first round pick. In later picks they should look at safeties (never hurts to have depth and their secondary had some injuries this year), a quarterback, a speedy running back, and offensive line (depth on the offensive line is very important, especially with the Bears style of play). Benson is a big strong back and a speedy slasher would be a good change of pace back for the team. Drew Stanton would be a pretty good pick if they can get him in the third round (maybe even the second). They clearly need a good quarterback to win games. Stanton is the third best qb in the draft i believe and has good speed. Grossman was pretty bad in the second half of last season and the playoffs. Griese is a very good backup but should probably not be the starter. Grabbing a qb would not be a bad idea in the 2nd or 3rd round.

If you go back over the last few years they have had some of the best drafts in the NFL. So people should have alittle more faith in them. They have a lot of flexability with the Thomas Jones trade. With the draft point system there 2 2nd round pics have a point value of the 12th or 13th pick which they might be able to trade up to if they see some one they really like fall that far. As far as QB's they dont need anyone else. I like the 3 they have. Grossman didnt have a great year last year but it was his 1st full NFL season and i think he did pretty damb good. Grease is nothing special but he is a solid vetern QB and Orton is from the same Purdue system as Drew Brees and it took Brees 3 years in the NFL to get it together, before that they thought you was nothing special (thats why they drafted Rivers).... We have a lot of talent... I think they will go Safety or LB in 1st round unless some special drops to them....

I am not sure of what trades they will make, but i have heard that they want to draft a TE in the first round. Miller from Arizona State and Olsen from Miami are the top tight ends with olsen probably the better one. I don't really understand that too much because i think desmond clark does a really good job.

we wont do a thing in free agency. Angelo will fill the holes in the next draft and hopefully get lucky like they did last year with Devin Hester Mark Anderson and Manning. but i would like to get rid of Orton and pick up a new Qb in the draft....But dont be surprised if the Bears do nothing in free agency.

they should have gone after garcia...they will draft defense first...a linebacker to take the place of briggs. they may draft a rb or qb late...they are too cheap to be in the running for any top-notch free agents

the bears wont do much in free agency or trades because they don't have a huge salary cap.
