i took my son to the park today and on the way back he picked around 5 daffidils and asked if we could put them in water at home, but as we were walking home this woman said we shouldnt have taken them from the park and said i could be fined up to £1000, shouldn't there be signs to say not to pick flowers?

oh god people please lighten up, its a few sodding daffs, it was her SON that picked them, who no doubt doesn't know the law of flower picking!! It was a cute little gesture!

don't worry about it, daffodils are as common as council estates now adays....i would understand if he had picked some rare British treasure or something!!! Ignore the moaning woman and enjoy your sons innocence whilst it lasts!

There probably are signs somewhere but im sure your son wasn't really thinking 'ooo must look out for the signs telling me I cant pick flowers for mummy'

£1000 for 5 daffs, jesus christ.

Enjoy your daffs!!

You shouldn't really pick flowers from the park. There is probably a bye-law about it with some sort of penalty. Park flowers are not like wildflowers in fields and woods. However I can't see anybody making too much of a fuss about a kiddie picking a few. The flowers are for everybody to enjoy so leave them be.

i know one thing... just reading the remarks most of the people here posted, really ticks me off... and the lady who said that to you, well I'm not even going to say what i think.
someone my have spent a day or two out there planting the bulbs, but you know what... God made them grow... and who so gives the right to Gods creation anyway... your son is of pure innocence, and if he wants to pick some flowers then so be it. he is not hurting anything....if it were a wildflower that is very rare then it would be a different matter. but it's a daffodil. they are everywhere. i have about 50 in my back yard alone. the flowers he picked in the first place would be wilted by the next day or two anyway, that is if a frost didn't kill them tonight. i love seeing flowers too, but I'm not going to get upset because someone picked them... there are more things in this world to be concerned with.... let him love what he did for you.

Look at it this way. If every 5-year-old picked 5 flowers, there'd be no more flowers. And the reason every 5-year-old did not pick flowers is that their mother already knew this. Just chalk it up as a lesson learned. Don't punish him, but let him know you made a mistake by allowing it, and the flowers need to stay there for all to enjoy.

it is technicaly a crime but a stupid one at the same time i realy wouldn t worry to much about it though the old woman just sounds like she went out wanting to moan at someone and i doubt very much you would recieve a fine for 5 flowers don t worry about it mate and yes there should be signs warning you not to do it and telling you the max penalty for doing it 2

It's only natural for a child to want to pick them but i'm afraid yes, you can get into trouble for it. Just explain to him that the flowers are for all to enjoy and they will last longer if left alone. x

I'm sure your son meant well, no age stated but I guess only a young one. He only wanted to give them to you because your his mum and he loves you. Thought they would make you happy, not knowing anything about the park rules/laws.
Don't loose no sleep over it, your son won't be the first and I'm sure he won't be the last. Hope they were nice.

I really dont know, my daughter would pick daff for me and I would be so pleased that I never did tell her since they were not mine or hers that was stealing, however she is nineteen now , a credit to her dad and I, a criminology student at university, not a thug or a nusisance to society

A lot of people spend a lot of time planting bulb for others to see.
If you put your son's coat on a park bench so what would you and your son do if someone was to come along and walk off with it?

it particularly is no longer plenty the boy is used as bait to %. up women as what the daddy is doing to his son. it is an extremely ill and hectic element to do, and not healthful for the boy. i'm curious as to what the costs are in comparison guy, newborn abuse, harassment, and so on. i do no longer see this being a sturdy case.
