With etching cream, you definitely need a stencil.
If you have the time and a real steady hand, you can do the following:
• Write out what you want to stencil in a pretty font on your computer and print it out. Try not to get real intricate, because this process includes cutting out the letters.
• Take it to a Kinko's or other full-service copy shop and have it transferred to clear acetate.
• Cut out the black areas in the acetate with an X-acto or thin hobby knife. Ta-da! You have a stencil.
Hope that helps.

Create your design and have it reduced to the size that will fit around your votive cups. Make enough copies that will fit on a standard sheet of paper. My guess is ,you probably will fit about 4. Now take this design sheet and print it out on some pretty wedding paper that you find in the scrap booking section of your craft store. Apply adhesive to the back of this design sheet ( a Xyron machine will do the job). Cut out each votive cover and apply to your (straight sided)votive cup.
You could also go to www.orientaltrading.com. In their wedding section the have votive cups that they will personalize for free. Much easier , but it won't be your personal design. It's the way I would go.

you are able to scratch it with something with an particularly sharp and difficult tip, as diamond and corundum. you are able to likely discover this kind of issue in a good hardware, without favor to thieve diamonds from the family members treasure.
