I know!! It is sooo wrong. Females are stronger than Men in many ways! : ) and i think females have just the same right as males to play.

Some schools will. By law they have to at least let you tryout. Colorado University had a girl that kicked for them a few years back. There are alot of people who aren't hesitant though because of the distractions it could cause for the male players. But keep in mind, at kicker, they are subject to a LOT less physical contact then a runningback or quarterback.

Also I think when you start to get into college and beyond, physically men become stronger then women as a full grown adult. There are reservations about women playing professional football simply because there are full-grown men who physically have a hard time playing. Women are generally smaller in stature and size, so this is a legitimate safety concern. There are very few women, as well as men, who even have the size and stature to compete on the professional level. It's really naive to think otherwise.

Football is a highly physical sport, not like Basketball, Baseball or Soccer. It's much easier for a women to compete in those sports due to the lack of extensive physical contact. I'd have to say that a women would have to be 6'3" and about 260 pounds (the average size of a NFL QB) before they would even be able to compete and not risk extreme injury. I don't know many women who are that size.

With that being said I don't see anything wrong with a girl playing with the guys until it gets to a point where she's physically in danger of serious injury. I say pursue it through high school and then see about getting on a women's professional semi-pro team.

They actually had their championship here in Louisville a few years back at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium (home of the University of Louisville). It's full contact and I was pretty shocked at the strong turnout they had. You should see if your area has a team.

I agree with the guy above me. It would very difficult to accomdate a female football player shower wise. Because in most highschools there are only two locker rooms and the opposing team has to use one of them. Also, there is the sexual harrasment thing. The school may fear law suits, if one of the guys or coaches says or does something that rubs the girl the wrong way. Also in some states you have to meet certain qualifications to play on certain high school teams and one of those qualifications is being of a certain sex.

I have had a girl on my high school football team before. She was just as tough as some of the guys. I don't have a problem with seeing a girl on a football team, but football is a male sport. Do you ever see a guy on a high school volleyball team?

As a girl....

I DO NOT WANT TO SEE GIRLS IN FOOTBALL! and I think it SUCKS that they count football numbers in Title 9 and that guys can't play soccer, volleyball, etc., in a lot of schools because of "equality" GIVE ME A BREAK! Considering Football funds most women's sports it shouldn't be counted.

But back on subject, what is up is that there are schools that have common SENSE and want to put a good product on the field.

girls can play football but the reasons why some schools wont let girls play is because
1. it can be a big distraction to the guys
2. the team or coach may feel ackward
3. most guys (at least the ones i know) would go easyer on her
4. the school just feels its wrong and thats there opinion

Nick Mangold (center, Jets) has a younger sister that i believe plays for her high school team. If a girl is good enough to be on the team she belongs on the team. Letting a girl on the team just for the sake of letting her on the team is stupid though.

They will let u play, but it is a problem, because of the locker rooms, and the guys are afraid to hit the girls. The girl would have to be very good.

Technically they are allowed to tryout, and then maybe play. But if it is a public school program, there are cuts, and the coach can choose to cut whoever he wants. That means he can cut anybody who he feels is a distraction to the team, will become the focus of the media, and maybe isnt that talented.
