1-Because he is the President. I support him and I will support Hillary if she gets elected. It's about the presidency and NOT the person.
2-Because he represents the United States. He's the "point man." He represents my country as will Hillary or whoever gets elected. I am behind and respect my country.
3-Because he was capable of being elected. Despite what you've heard, a stupid person cannot end as President. Even if he got into Yale and even Harvard for his graduate work because of his family, which I doubt, he still got very good grades at both, better than Kerry, for instance. He can't scam everybody, all the time.

I'm not saying that he doesn't make mistakes or that he's the greatest President ever. I'm saying that he is the President and especially in this day and age, we have to respect and support the President, whoever he is.

I don't like him so it would be hard to give you those three reasons. But I can show respect because 1) the office he holds, 2) although I disagree with his policies he is a patriot trying to do what he believes best for the country, and 3.) he was willing to use his life in the public service of his countries. That said it is TIME for a change.

Do you realize that this is the Politics section, and that for a question like this, 90% of the answers will be completely sarcastic?

Anyway, to be serious:

1)He is an earnest patriot
2)He appointed the first African-American and the first female Sec. of State
3)His decisions and actions rarely reflect his intentions, which are much better than most people think

P.S. - What does it say to you about the state of our country that almost all of the people who answered this question responded with negative reasons, even though you asked for positive ones?

There is no reason to like Bush because all the reason to hate him are 100%. He is hated man not just by our country but all the other countries have voted 2 weeks ago that he is the most hated leader in any country. The things he has done and let done is so cruel and horrible. The torture he says should prevail and all this terrible way that this war is being fought and all our troops are coming home in casket and maimed beyond recognition and just take it all and he is a terrible, horrible person. There isn't one thing that anybody could like him for , not one.

Courage of conviction, Respect for office, patriotism
You do not have to agree with the president, just respect the office, You should Love America thus be a Patriot, that doesn't mean lock step with anyone just love your country
The President isn't told how to think or act by polls thus the Courage of Conviction
Now lockstep hate for America and its President is wrong and evil
There was a saying in the 60's and 70's America Love it or leave it
I still agree with that and I didn't see anywhere I said agree with

I don't think you have to like the President. There have been several in my lifetime that I did not care for.

Respect, on the other hand, is a matter of personal belief. I think that the President is due my respect, simply because he is the President. And I think that our nation needs the unity of this social understanding.

1. He hasn't shot any of his friends in the face
2. He's gone 4 years without invading another nation
3. He rid the world of small pox.

Okay, so that last one doesn't count. Is 2 reasons enough?
