my cd drive on my laptop quit working...what to do?

I have a fairly new laptop and the cd drive is no longer found in my list of available drives...it still sounds like it works but my computer cannot find it? Any suggestions?

Ok first have you updated your drive or anything? Do you know where to go to chekc and try to roll back?
