With Bill Gates being a registered Democrat and a Liberal, I am not surprised that he has the wealth status he currently holds. When you don't rob and cheat and misinform others you can have a heck of a career. Bill Gates is also the largest contributor to the poor along with Democrat Warren Buffet. You see God does shine on those that share the wealth and pay tithes doesn't he?

I'm not taking sides but I do commend Bill Gates for the fact that he has the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that gives away millions every year! He has repeatedly stated he will give away the majority of his fortune to the less fortunate! What other Billionaires and Millionaires are following in his foot steps??
This is a product of the current form of Capitalism! I'm not a communist but capitalism isn't the answer either in it's current form!
This comes from a spineless population that has allowed and continues to allow a corrupt government because most are afraid to make sacrifice in the name of their children and future generations to come! It's truly a sad day on this planet for mankind!!!
PS: I'm simply amazed how naive people are that think all this money by these folks was accomplished on a level playing field??
Take a look at your tax structure set in motion by your government which was specifically designed so as NOT to be able to acquire wealth, not the other way around! You keep people in line when you have control over them and the only way possible is through oppression!!
I don't know where "Truthsay" gets his statistics but I recently read that a significant potion of Americans do NOT even have a bank account! And we all know what the credit card statistics say so I doubt he has his facts straight!

Is that relevant? Do people want to be richer than everyone else or richer than they were before? There are a lot more millionaires than there were before - close to 1 in 11 US households have a million dollars net worth EXCLUDING home equity. Average age of the head of such a household is 57. And about 1 in 4 have between $100K and $500K net worth excluding home equity. Average age late 30s. And 10% more of the population owns its own home than was the case in the 1970s.

So it's not that millionaires are mediocre but that the mediocre if they play their cards right can one day be millionaires or at least be closer to millionaires than they are now.

Isn't that what we're trying for?

I don't understand. America is known as the land of opportunity. So often, I hear "only in America" when referring to people who have made fortunes the old fashioned way. So what's your problem with millionaires, billionaires or trillionaires? How are they creating problems for the economy?

I suggest Americans decide, once and for all...do you want to live in a capitalist country, or not? If you decide that you do, you're going to have to stop snivelling about those people who have so much more than you do. That's capitalism...

Ugh, I hear you.

It depends I think on how many millions you have. Back in the day there were few FAMOUS millionaires. So becoming one was huge.

I'd love to be a one million millionaire. But keeping on topic, if you have 'only' one million today, after taxes, you really aren't close to being a millionaire. Right? lol

But if anyone is looking for a deserving author to make into a millionaire, you know, as a test, I offer myself. lol

Cool! A trillionaire, in our life-time!

My salary is not $25 per hour. It's between $40 and $150 depending on whether I get paid by the state or a private client. Of course all my time is not billable. Lots of pro bono work, too.

But I am content. Life and happiness is not defined by money. At least not by me.

What! Aren't you one of the ones that was touting the Dems victory over the Reps by raising the most paid wage in the land, the minimum wage, to $7.10 per hour.

Poor get poorer, rich get richer. Pretty soon the Monopoly game will be over and th 3% will have it all and the rest of use will be economic slaves working for that $7.10 per hour (if we even have a job!).

You do realize that Bill gates is nowhere near being a trillionaire,or did you not notice that the story, from 1999,predicted he would be a trillionaire two years ago?

Read your way through something, especially if you're trying to use it as your source.

He is not a trillionaire yet and none of the above are mediocre. I am not sure what you mean by mediocre because the richest people in the world have no debt.
Therefore, if you have no debt, any income above that is relative.

I agree, but I still hope to become a millionaire even though it is not as big a deal today.
