I know it's probably cliche, but how about a fancy dress or masquerade ball. It'll definitely get people talking to each other ......... perhaps you and yours could be the Silver King and Queen?!
Or ........... what about getting a casino night, with play money for all guests? Perhaps make it a James Bond night and the men have to come in Tux's and the ladies in cocktail dresses.
There are a lot of companies out there that will arrange theme nights/parties. Have a look on yell.co.uk in your area and see what comes under 'party planning'
Happy Anniversary!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
How about a "This Is Our Life" type thing... For the tables, a pic of the two of you at different points in your life with the story behind it? Or a "favor" of your tips and reasons for your marriage lasting so long? How about having those that have been close to you through the years (friends, family, children) telling what they think is the best thing about your marriage, or sharing sweet or funny stories about the two of you?
Try recreating your wedding cake - if you have a picture of it, ask a bakery to try to match it as closely as possible.
Play the songs that have meant something to you both over the years.
Give the guests some insight into what has made your marriage last.

Hmmm throw like a theme party. It was 1982 when you got married so throw an 80's retro party or something. Hire a DJ to play all the hits from that period, dress in bright pink and neon green spandex and poof your hair way out! LOL Maybe even reenact how the proposal took place. There's lots of possibilities. But most of all have fun and celebrate your marriage.

have a casino party. win all your kid's money! spend it before you die! if you're not into gambling, set up a table with items for sale, you can have your friends and relatives do a silent auction on all of your junk. be sure to have someone film the occasion and offer copies of the video for a small fee. this is a good way to make extra cash for those retirement years, and by selling some of your junk, you also get rid of some of the stuff the kids will only fight over after you're both gone. it'll be a hoot. leave 'em laughing.

do a theme party, like a black and white party or an all red party or a masked party;or a pyjama party; or get people to come in fancy dress. I was at a fancy dress party recently where the mum was 40 and the daughter was 21; it was wonderful seeing everyone arrive in their costumes.
Pyjama parties are quite cheap; you don't have to buy special gear - just a sexy nightie or cosy flannelette jim jams!
