have green plant and want red flower leafs for xmas, how do you get them?

There is a procedure for doing it and you start the light and dark cycles in late September. I don't want to write out the whole process now and then have you lose it by fall so just keep the plant healthy (you can plant it outside keeping it either in the pot or plant it in the ground) and good and green by watering when needed and fertilizing once a month until then and then reask the question.
