Masons lay bricks. Free Masons had some secret societies, which have become cultural clubs in the later years. The Government of this country runs by itself. ... and we will probably never know who is really behind the scenes.

Secret society? Yes. Runs the country? No. There just business people who get together and memorize a bunch of stuff and network with each other in between charity events.

They have a secret society. It doesn't run our government.
The Masons are a social, cultural and semi-religious group. While many Masons have also ended up in high political office, the group as a whole does not have a political agenda, nor is there a vast conspiracy among them to control the govt.

That there are Freemasons in the government I have no doubt. However, the real power in government are the members of the Skull and Crossbones Society who, believe it or not, are actually the good guys.

I think the Mason's have many high placed members but as to whether they run the government -if they do they should do a better job of it.
