Since most females are already naturally attracted to nonmonogamous males (i.e because seed spreaders were superior in evolutionary genetic survival terms) - obviously women are willing to go back to men that cheat - or simply find a new cheater
As for female cheaters - men have great difficulty for one key biological reason: that being (in evolutionary terms) men could never be precisely sure who was and was not their offspring - and any male investment in such non-offspring was highly disadvantage to their (the male's) genetic survival
So a female can accept a male cheater yet most men will never be confortable with a female cheater - its just the way biology and evolution designed it
Note that is irrelevant that today we can in fact identify the who exactly is the father - and the reason is we are talking about genetic PERCEPTION and human DNA which carries large amounts of evolutionary baggage that impacts on current day thought, actions, and decisions, and such genes barely, if at all, recognize such modern constructs
Since most women will never be attracted (in a chemistry sense) to a male that either doesn't cheat or doesn't want to cheat - best that they find the least-worst cheater that may have other positive characteristics

I cheated on my partner just over 2 years ago when our son was born, I actually left him for the other guy who I thought I loved. My partner had been really horrible to me during my pregnancy and the other guy had been really great.
My partner begged me to come home, and I am not sure why I did or why he wanted me to, but that next year was really rough, finally, over the last 9 months we have got our relationship just right again.
You can work through these things, but you both have to want to. It takes a really big person to forgive someone for something like that, but he has been rewarded with my loyalty for life.
I think that it totally depends on the people and the personal situation, if both parties feel that something is worth saving then they should do it.

I was cheated on, ALOT, and usually I just dumped whoever and moved on. But recently I have created my new "zen" peacefinding attitude on life and I try to work things out. Like the last time it happened we worked things out and talked it through all of it and moved on, but once you've been cheated on be someone then there's no possible way you can look at that person the same way again.

i believe everyone deserves a second chance BUT just the once, and see how things go, you need to work at relationships, and no good digging the past up as this causes more arguments
BUT if they ever do it again, no chances thats it say bye bye
dont listen to once a cheater always a cheater, as thats BS
good luck hun im sure you'll do he right thing

my boyfriend had a one night stand when we had been together nearly a year. we have now been together for 5 years, but it took a lot of hard work, I didn't trust him for a long time after, I used to get very paranoid, check his phone and emails. We are happier than we have ever been now though! I think it would have been different if it had been an ongoing affair though.

Yes, I was stupid.... He made out with my best friend for weeks and they never told me. When I found out I was devastated but I managed to get over it and forgive both of them....big mistake....We dated for 2 more years after that and he never did anything but we had a hard break up and I totally regret forgiving him...oh and I don't talk to my "best friend" anymore, I mean who does that to a friend.?? So it can happen but I would just end it, now someday they'll hurt you again

It is always a mistake to go back what ever happened,
because it happened for a reason.Or turn the tables on the person and see how they would react.
