I read that it's especially important not to mix bleach and ammonia products together (such as when cleaning the tub) during pregnancy because it gives off noxious fumes that can make you sick.
To be on the safe side, anything that requires a lot of cleaner or is in an enclosed space (like the bathroom), my husband has taken over cleaning duties for me.

Vinegar and dish soap are great! They also sell "Simple Green", and that new Clorox stuff that advertises that it's safe around food and they show the woman spraying the baby high chair- which I would think to be okay- but you'd have to check the label. I wouldn't use anything aeresol or with dangerous chemicals in them like oven cleaner, or mold killers, since you could breath this in. Wear gloves and ventilate the room while you are cleaning and leave the heavy duty stuff to someone else.
Environmental agents that can cause birth defects are called teratogens. (They include some prescription and illicit drugs, some non-prescription drugs, supplements — including Vitamin A in megadoses, herbs, various chemicals, certain infections, and high-dose radiation.) How poisonous or harmful a substance is depends on many different factors, including the amount you're exposed to, when in the pregnancy you were exposed, how you were exposed, your genetic makeup, and the degree of risk associated with a particular substance. While there is fairly good information about many drugs and infections that are potential teratogens, there is a sore need for more data on the reproductive and developmental risks of most chemicals. If you're exposed to any chemicals on a routine basis, you may want to talk about it with your healthcare provider.

Things like windex should be ok too and If you're worried about it you could get some Simple Green. It's not toxic and biodegradable. It's a very good safe all around cleaner and degreaser.

I have been cleaning houses and churches for a long time. I am finding out some of the chemicals is getting to me so I use vinegar sometimes baking soda. Vinegar is good for sinks and chrome and baking soda too. Also dilute bleach & water to kill germs. If you use spray bottles be careful how you spray get a dust mask to cover your nose and mouth when cleaning. Like the gal ahead of me said simple green is good product it is a natural product though be careful when you spray it, it can gag me when I spray to hard.
