Are landslides a risk for the areas around Lake Austin and Lake Travis?

Yes there is. Although a major one has not occurred in Austin, it doesn't mean that one will never occur. We recently studied this is my geology class and the Austin area is prone to landslides regardless if the hills are not that high. Landslides can occur because of many things. For example lots of rain, a sharp angle of response, cutting through the side of the hill to build homes or roads are all triggers to landslides.
