Well if you think it has been taken out, then you had better ask the French if they can put it back again. The Great actually means big (from the French Grande) - the French gave us the name.

Well. I think the world has caught up to Britain and it can no longer be great. They became great by virtue of the ships and fire power before any body else has them. If you look at all the colonization theye were able todo it was solely based on the lack of fire power in the hands of the people inhabiting the territories that were occupied. Now almost every country that can offer any value in terms of wealth to be looted in the world has enough military budget/ other interantional organizations that will stop such attempts by Britain unlest it takes USA along with it. So no more freeloading for Britain to get rich off other countries and become great.

Get rid of this useless government and vote in a new party who practise the use of good old fashioned commonsense. All Mps should be paid the national average for their personal salary and they should be forbidden from having other jobs, consultancies etc for their term in government. This way we would have a parliament which truly represents the people first without feathering their own nests. So many of the directives issued today are unenforcible, unnecessary and insult the populace's intelligence. Government needs to govern in the areas where national consistency is required, eg. education, health, security etc and accept that people are individuals who should be encouraged to be independent and not 'nannied'. The government should also take heed of the general opinions of the people and remember that they are the servants of the country and not the other way round. Perhaps then the British nation would again be 'great', in our ow eyes, if not, the rest of the world.

I love this country,soon I will be on holiday on the Yorkshire moors,I've stood and wondered at the New Forrest,the Cambrian mountains,but then I have to return to Luton and the reality that there is never going to be a Great Britain any more,its become a dumping ground for the worlds misfits,free hand out hangers on and of course the training ground for bombers, we have let things go to far to ever be great again.sorry!

Stop backing that buffoon George Bush.
We're an island, we need to be independent. The other super powers should be choosing to back us in the world issues.
We'll struggle because we don't have any major natural resources so we need to work harder at breaking other nations' balls on major issues.
I'm not sure that Gordon Brown is the man for the job, he is just a bloke in the right place at the right time that is literally counting the seconds until he can seize power.
My bet is on David Cameron. Love her or hate her, Thatcher did put the Great back in Great Britain and Cameron is in her mold.

Stop copying Bush, get rid of all asians and moslems and then get rid of the yobbos and bring in the compulsory 3 year service in the armed forces that would make the young more disciplined and solve a lot of the troubles.

Invest in education, get rid of the dole as it breeds people who won't work and expect something for nothing, and bring back good traditional values.
Have you seen the Channel 4 program "Never did me any harm"? Quite revealing!
Oh, and tighten up on immigration laws so only those who can support themselves can live in GB ... every other country does, except the UK!

bring back national service i say! and make the army more like it used to be, bad lads army style, teach respect and trade while they're in there, after protecting and serving the country I'm sure alot of the hoodie hooligans will cease to exist! sort out the bloody prisons, they shouldn't be a holiday camp, get rid of the gyms, the snooker tables and sky, give them the basic necessities-I'm sure they wouldn't want to go back. and rehabilitate, teach them how to be self sufficient. and kick Blair out, hes a disaster, you cant believe a single word he says. ahhhhh, rant over, i actually feel better for that. thanks. :)
