Bill Mahar is , a conservative liberal ( in my opinion ) though he might deffine his political views differently. I am a republican (liberal slant) but absolutely LOVE Bill Mahar , think he's a friggin genius , and would vote for him for president. Any other Republicans feel the same , democrats too.

I never considered Bill Maher. But, now that you mention it, he would make a good president. I think he is perceived to be too left wing to be electable, but if he chose a moderate running mate he just might have a fighting chance.

We really need someone who can reverse the polarization that has snowballed over the last 10 or so years. Let's end the tug of war so we can actually accomplish something in Washington.

I like him too, but he would be an AWFUL president. My politics aside, Bill Mahar is one of THE LEAST diplomatic pundits ever. His show serves the function of the fourth office of government, the press, whose job it is to criticize policy, rather than make it. He belongs where he is, providing an opinion, and provoking political thought and action. He is not a politician, because he doesn't think like one. His job is not to sit around and make the laws, he's the one that provokes the people to pay attention and influence lawmakers, who otherwise make decisions in their own favor exclusively.

The American government is made up of checks and balances, executive power is blanced by congressional and legal power, the president can't do anything without congress, which can't pass laws without the Supreme Court to tell them if they're constitutional or not, and the Supreme Court is installed by the president. They all have a hand on keeping the other in their places, and the press has a hand on all of them. Without people like Mahar or Limbaugh or Stewart or Blitzer, any other journalist or critic, the government would have no reason to function in the people's interest, because they wouldn't be aware of what's going on.

Keep Mahar where he is. It has nothing to do with his personal politics, it has to do with what his function should be and is.

Well, he's probably a little too brash and outspoken to have a successful political bid. Hell, I think that a lot of Republicans think of him as barely better than Al Franken.

Oh yeah, I'm a liberal, and I like Al Franken and Bill Maher.

He's a comedian that brings out some good facts that need brought out. But for president I dont think so. He's good right where he's at. in a front seat to bring to the people certain facts of life that others want to hide.

I think of Bill Maher as more of a libertarian. I still like his views though, I am an independent, more liberal on social issues, more conservative on fiscal issues. But I guess he could run for president. If Arnold could be the governator...

That would be like the republicans running Anne Coulter. I disagree with your opinion. Being insulting vile scumbag does not make you a genius.

I would love for them to run him. Good luck with that.

Yes! I think he should run on the Democrat ticket! That way, they'd have no chance--again!--and we'd have to listen to Democrat whines of how the new Republican President stole that election, too! I say "Go! Bill Go!"

I think Bill Maher would be a great president!

However, I doubt that most of the American public would agree. His views on religion alone would turn off too many voters.
