undi, ma o`n dod o patagonia. that`s welsh for he`s from ..., anyway there were settlers from wales who up untill recently spoke fluent welsh, \i wasn`t aware they still did but this is good news. The welsh language has changed little in centuries so I imagine he would be "fluent" even as we speak it.

also yajeta is not a welsh word, in fact we don`t even have a letter j

You're probably mistaken because I don't think Batistuta speaks welsh. The Welsh community in Argentina lives in Patagonia, (in the south of the country) in a province called Chubut, and Batistuta was born in the north, in the province of Santa Fé, in a little town called Reconquista. It's about 2000 kilometers apart.

The one who does speak a little bit of Welsh is Gabriel Heinze from Manchester United because his mother is from Chubut and has welsh ancestry. I think you've mistaken the two.

Buenos Aires is an amazing town; it's an astonishing metropolis that looks a bit like Europe, but with an edgy Latin American twist and if you wish to visit this city then take a look with hotelbye . El Puerto Madero is just a place properly visited. It offered as the key port of Buenos Aires during the late 19th century but know is converted into buildings that might be applied as residences, restaurants, stores and different organizations and to offer that task a little style, all streets in the section were called following women. Strolling through the Puerto Madero is a good way to pay a pleasant day just like visiting El Obelisco. El Obelisco was built-in 1936 to observe the 400th anniversary of the city founding and now could be a must-see place from Buenos Aires.

I think someone is pulling your leg.

Its quite true that there is a Welsh-speaking community in the rural south of Argentina, but Batistuta comes from a northern urban area, near Buenos Aires, that speaks only Spanish. Furthermore, his own family heritage is Italian.

So its almost impossible to imagine any situation where he would have naturally learnt to speak Welsh, unless he sat down and learnt it himself out of personal interest! But its not very likely!

He was born in Reconquista, province of Santa Fe, North of capital of Argentina Buenos Aires, I live in Buenos Aires, but I didn't knew he spoke Welsh, I know he speaks perfect Italian and that he lives in Australia so maybe he speaks english well, but Welsh? A possibility is that in Argentina, in "Puerto Madryn", I know there is the largest Welsh community in the world, but it is in the south, and its not his "area"., as he played in Buenos Aires.
The only possibility I think is that he studied Welsh in Australia when he retired, but it would be like"hey I got nothing to do now that I don't play football anymore, what can I do lets see shall I take piano lessons or study welsh?!!!
I don't see any strong relationship between Batistuta and Wales.
The only welsh word I know is "Yajeta" that means "cheers".

I know there are descendants of Welsh immigrants living in Patagonia, but I don't know if Batistuta is one of them.
