80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

I believe the meaning of life is nothing while being a great gift. It hurts because sh** happens, but if we live through the pain then we're stronger. If we have no one there for us, open your eyes because there's someone. If not, live on and find em. Yea, this sounds overly optimistic, but its true. Why else would people who's living on the streets or getting beat by their loved ones still fight on, trying harder to get better instead of slipping away? Life and death is cruel, life you can make better if you know you're going to Hell, if you believe in it. And the afterlife is wonderful if you suffer in life trying to sacrifice things for other people to go to Heaven. Life means more than the world to some people, so it has to be pretty important.

Many approaches are possible.
a) looking up for the meaning of the word life.
b) escalating the problem to a higher level: what is the meaning of meaning? once we understand that, we can move on to the next word (conveniently skipping 'of'): life.
c) assign a meaning and believe and justify and live it.
d) feel the meaning using your emotions.
e) conclude that it is absurd according to existientialists.
Or a lateral approach:
a) why do you ask? are you unhappy?
b) what is it for you?
etc.
P.S: The conventional answer 42 should be added for the sake of completeness. Or is it 32?

life is full of ups and downs and everyone has a different theory for it life is filled with lessons it's kind of hard to give someone the meaning of life because they may view it differently then you so the best way to say it is LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT you just gotta figure out your purpose
