Harry Truman on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan...and he was a member of the Democratic party. He had the guts to do what was in the best interest of national defense. Truman didn't wait for Japan to again attack and perhaps invade the country. He took the fight to the enemy using the most effective means to bring the war with Japan to a close. Can you imagine if he'd done that today, given the social and political climate of the US now?
