pipe dope it is a Teflon past put it on the male threads and tighten it down
At first i thought the above but the more i think about it you should call a professional because you cant just put the stuff over the pipe you have to take it apart and ad more pipe dope and in order to do that you must shut off the gas and if you are asking what to use here you could very well blow uff your roof

its thrue that you use a pipe thread sealant on the joint- but the tricky part is that the joint needs to be taken back apart in order to correctly seal it. Gas pipe is installed one piece at a time, and you may have to take apart quite a bit of pipe to make the repair. You can't just paint some pipe dope on the joint to seal the leak.
Meanwhile- the leak continues, and leaky gas pipe is dangerous. You'd be better off shutting off the gas to your house and calling a plumber.
Sometimes trying to save a few bucks might cost you alot more if that gas leak ignites.

The easement gives them access to your land in the future for yearly maintenance checks, state inspections, fixing problems, replacing pipeline, etc. It will require clearing off land and possibly building access roads, and clearings and roads are actively maintained to ensure access. I'll show you what the physical effects of an easement on the landscape look like at one of the sites where I did an impact assessment. Go to Google Maps, search for "Connellsville airport", and select satellite image. If you move down about 3200 feet and left about 3000 feet, that's a gas line. Although the line itself is thin compared to the size, the clearing is slightly more than 100 feet wide. If you look closely, you can see a line that runs through the clearing, which is created by a shadow on the snow across the depression left from digging. As you move up, you can see where it splits and forms a Y. My job was to assess the impact of creating the split to the left in order to accommodate a runway extension at the airport. This particular clearing is maintained indefinitely (cleared, mowed, etc). Also, if you keep going up past the point where the Y reconnects with the original line, you can see a repair site (~1500 feet above where the Y reconnects). If a section of pipeline is bad, it's cheaper for them to go around the bad part instead of digging it up and replacing it. You can deny them access, and then the only way they can build it would be through eminent domain (which is much more difficult for a gas company to get because although electricity, water, sewage, and highways are societal necessities, gas lines often aren't.). You'd be financially compensated either way, and even if you do plan to say yes, it would benefit you more to wait them out because if all of your neighbors say yes and you're the only one left, access to your land becomes more valuable to the company and you'll receive higher offers.

Gas line should be done by a pro. Call a certified plumber.
As said you can't just paint something over the joint. I needs to be redone and to do so the gas must be off. If it is threaded pipe Teflon tape or pipe dope. If not a compression fitting.
