After nearly 30 years in the business I do know a little about it. In about 3 days the grocery stores would start to run out of perishable foods. In 5 days most factories would start closing because most manufacturers use just in time shipping to decrease inventories. If the trucks do not make delivery there is no inventory reserve to carry on with. In 12 to 15 days you would not be able to get groceries even if you had gas in your car to go after them(which you would not have). You also would want be very carefull traveling anywhere as people are starting to get hungry and scared. The economy is at a complete stop and until products are moving again it cannot restart. The National Guard would be called out to prevent looting and the food riots which would be happening in every major city. There are about 2500 trucks going into New York City everyday with food. In 2 weeks New York would be a very scary place to be with an apple.

This happened once before in the 70's. The truckers went on strike and parked their trucks in St. Louis, Mo. The trains soon followed. All the major stores have a limited supply of products in their warehouses and can keep items on the selves for one month. This is only true if there is not a rush to stock up on Everything which is what happened int the 70's. There was a shortage of goods for about a month after the strike ended. The strike ended about two to three weeks after it started. It was a mess. There worst part of a trucker strike would be the shortage of gasoline. I have been through this shortage several times. It severly cuts down on the ability to get to and from work. You start by only being able to buy gasoline once a week on certain dates. if a strike lasted longer than a month, then people may take it upon themselves to get the goods they need from the parked trucks which then would lead to many other problems.

one thousand won't have a huge impact. yet, in spite of if this is a countrywide strike with many greater thousands in touch it is going to set off the Taft-Hartley hard paintings Act of 1947 the place the President can order an end to the strike and tension the two components into binding arbitration.

There would be a lot of poor truckers, and the price of diesel at the pump would drop, and the roads would be MUCH safer to drive on.

Total chaos! There would be no food in stores. There would be no fuel at gas stations. There would be no products in stores. There would be no shipping or receiving at factories. There would be no mail service. There would be no money in banks. And the list goes on...

the economy as a whole would grind to a halt, there probably would be riots as stores start to run out of product.
