And you bought tons of records, 8 tracks, 45s, cassettes...Because technology changed your money went out the window...so that's how I justify updating my music by downloading in for free? Is anyone with me on this?

I refuse to look at each individual song as a piece of household media...most people have to update their tv which is to their advantage..but I had I mean 200 45s alone.,,,Let's take comics for instant, no one has to update them for a more pleasurable reading experience?

I totally agree. I had an awsome collection of cassettes back in the 80's....I don't feel guilty downloading music because in a way I've paid for it. I'm trying to find all the old songs I had...but it's not easy.

The money didn't go out the window. There was no "downloading songs" back then, so one bought what was available. That's like saying a tv I bought 20 years ago was a waste of money because technology has advanced since then. What does one do? Wait with no tv for 20 years until they make a better one?

Anyway, most of the artists I like are obscure and don't make a lot of money so, I usually go out and buy the cd or purchase it off of the web. As long as the music is good I'll spend the $ and I don't mind supporting the artist.

Go for it. Music companies are raping the artists anyway. They (the music companies) deserve to be ripped off. And yes, I still have records, cassettes and CD's. But I am gonna learn how to download music! I promise!

awesome
born in the 70's and raised in the 80's music was quality back then an artists took time to create ..Now these new groups in R&B are just not creative this hip hop R&B crap..I like my Soul music Like Sade so its way more easy to download than buy these CD's that are out now .Cause you can either delete the song if you no longer like it and etc. Love this new technology ..Hope it don't bite us in the BUTT later

No, because the artists who make that music did a job and deserve to be paid. Free downloads are like refusing to give someone their paycheck.
