I used to have a really difficult time studying a few years ago and I found that the very best way to help memorize things is to have index cards. For example, if it is vocab, place to the word on one side and the definition on the other. If it is facts, place them on the card. Repetition is really one of the best ways to study because it really does get inside your head. Also, for math and science, you can make pretend tests using questions from the book or ask your teachers for a study guide to work on. I am sure that they will be willing to help you out. Good for you for wanting to do something about your grades! That is the BEST way to start and start having motivation :). Best of luck to you

The thing that every good student has is good time management( using time wisely). In order to get good grades, you will need to give up some of your everyday activities to make time for homework. Homework is important because it counts as about 25% of your grade (it depends on the teacher), and it improves your academic skills outside of school. The following are some step I recommend you follow:
-make a list of ALL the activities you do during the day after school
-next to each activity, put for how long you do that activity
-cross out any activities you can survive without them so you can have homework time.
I would suggest you put aside 2 hours for homework, that way, you can do it without stressing about time.
Staying focused in school is also important. Making sure that you ask the teacher if you don't understand something. Some people don't raise their hands for one of 3 reasons:
1.)they are shy
2.)they don't care about their grades
3.) they're afraid everyone is going to laugh at them for asking a simple question
Whatever your reason is, it doesn't matter what other people think.Answer this question: do you care more about what other people say about you? Or do you want the best grades you could get?

It would have been better if you'd told us exactly what the problem is, and what you've been doing as a student.
Do you read assignments?
Do you do assigned homework?
If not, then do so.
Don't put big things off, but work on them regularly (projects and papers).
When you read, don't just "decode" the words, but make sure you're following what's said, and that you understand. Go back and reread where you got confused.
When you do assignments, don't just fill out the page, but really try to do what's expected. If you aren't sure what that is, ask other students (the ones who are good students) or your teachers.
Get help by asking teachers and a counselor what you can do to improve.
Is it that you keep up but bomb on tests? You can get help for this problem.
As I said, we could be more helpful if you'd explain what's going on and where you're weak and what you've been trying to do.
Avoid memorization except where necessary -- it's much better in every way to UNDERSTAND the material.
Try keeping notes of your reading, where you put the material in your own words, and come up with examples and questions and other reactions to what you read.
Ignore the person who said anything below A is failure. WRONG.
Any improvement is success -- that's the way to look at it.
Try posting other questions on this, on different aspects of what you have difficulty with or on improving in different subjects.

You can't stress too much; that will just make you freak on tests and get bad grades, even after hours of studying. Just set your mind to getting straight A's. Do extra credit, if available. Program your mind into thinking anything less than an A is failure.
Personally, I hate feeling worthless, so I do everything possible to get an A.
But don't study too hard. That doesn't do it. Just study enough where you know the concept and then memorize some of the particulars.
