How do I connect my new laptop to my existing talk talk router?

My new lap top is wireless enabled ,it has windows vista inside,my old laptop is in another room and works perfectly ,It is fitted with a usb dongle ,I am trying one way but it keeps asking for a pass word, which I do not have ,I am working the new one with an hard wire ,is it ethersomething, straight to the router. Can any one help! please

I just came across a site that sends you a laptop for free! I'm ordering mine right now, it's a Sony VAIO and it looks really hot!
