Maybe, but don't we also like people because they have simular qualities of us? Hatred can come from jealousy, wanting certain characteristics of the person, because they are the opposite of our personalities, or because the person is doing or being something we don't want to have ourselves. Like I hate materialistic people because even though they think they're so powerful (jealousy, repusion?), I may hate them because I don't want what they want, massive debt on my credit card. The more you think about it, the more complicated it becomes.

Its truthful in some ways. There are a lot of things about each of us that we either love or hate. The parts of us we hate we either try to make better or we shun away and pretend its not there. I like the people that reminds me of the bad parts of myself because it shows me that im not the only one like that. That makes me feel more special so I can't dislike the person, only befriend them. Besides, a lot of us need to be around people like us or there will be nothing to talk about.

In some cases yes. Because they may have some of the weakness's that we have and don't like in ourselves. Sometimes it can be that two people that are alike clash because they tend to compete with each other. I guess sometimes opposites do attract.

It depends upon how judgmental you are but I would think for the most part no. If I found someone like myself I think I would like them very much even though I more than likely would never get to know them.

I think we dislike someone who reminds us of someone who has done us wrong in our past.

This is only true if we dislike ourselves. Most of the time we dislike someone because he or she reminds us of someone whom we strongly dislike, or we dislike someone to whom we are envious.

I think in some cases there are attributes of ourselves that we do not like, and when we see these qualities in others, we tend not to like them.....but there are people I just dont like because they are sons of bitches.

Oh, sure...we don't like to see the dark side of ourselves looking back at us indeed. I just had that experience about a year ago. She couldn't stand me and I couldn't stand her....we tried to be friendly but it was so aggravating that I knew her next move before she made it....it didn't work out at all.....

I think it's somewhat true if they remind of a part of ourselves we don't like.

not even true, yeah they can remind you of yourself because of the dumb stuff you do and so on, you only dislike a person who is selfish, rude and always disrespect one another.

I have to say - not in my case. I'm at peace with myself. The people I dislike are those that have no socially redeeming value.
